Big Cricket News! Asia Cup 2025 will be played from 12th to 28th of September, by all expectations, and the hosting will be divided — India will be the hosting country, but the matches will be most likely played throughout the UAE and Sri Lanka.
UAE Finalized as Neutral Venue
While Sri Lanka and UAE had also emerged frontrunners for co-hosts, reports have come through now that UAE has been sealed — especially for hosting India vs Pakistan or other politically sensitive matches. This will be consistent with the trend set by earlier tournaments like the Champions Trophy, where matches between the two arch-rivals had been accommodated at neutral venues like Dubai.
Is India Playing in Asia Cup 2025?
Earlier, some media outlets had reported that India was going to avoid the Asia Cup, but the BCCI denied these speculations immediately.
A promotional poster recently caused a stir with India and Sri Lanka, leaving out Pakistan — putting the inclusion of Pakistan in doubt. However, the two sides had decided the same the prior year that India vs Pakistan matches would be played only via ICC or ACC tournaments at neutral sites, not respective home countries of each other.
What BCCI Says About Participation
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia explained the situation:
“There is no discussion of boycotting. We play Pakistan in World Cup matches, and that will not stop unless the Government of India says so.”
So, India is not boycotting, the move is subject to the approval of the Government of India.
ICC Women’s World Cup Hint
Incidentally, the PCB and the BCCI did not complain when India and Pakistan progressed simultaneously from the groups for the next 2025 Women’s World Cup, offering some hope that bilateral cricket ties are enhancing — if slowly.
